Benefits of Meditation

For one I can admit having considered meditation to be "airy fairy" if not "a complete waste of time." These words came straight out of my mouth couple of years back.

Let alone actually meditating, I was appalled by the idea of doing something to relax me.

Meditation is known to make significant changes in one's brain, stimulate your mind and improve your memory, sensation and critical thinking, however, that part does not happen to be my niché ergo I will leave the best link I find by the end of this piece.

In our hectic days we get super caught up in our small lives, often playing this game called "life" and as cliché as it would sound, we almost never run out of problems and ignore the value of our youth. Anyone you talk to today would complain about one thing, if not two. Whether their phones are broken, whether they did not get the promotion or the grade they wanted, how they are surrounded by toxicity or terrible things...

It's often we nitpick many details about our mundane lives and seek perfection;

and again it's often we go through actual problems related to our health, finance and many more as well. We are perfectly conditioning humans, only swirling around this big ol' world.

One of the biggest benefits I've reaped out of meditation was to come clean with my intentions. For the most time now, I choose to do binary thinking when I'm torn between decisions, "does the action serve a purpose to me and others/ not." Overthinking leads to overstress, I now see in the majority of the people around me. I do now know why I do majority of the stuff, even though I am not an expert in psychology, I understand my reasons.

Second, you see the bigger picture through time. Politics, history, humans, emotions, almost every part of life repeats itself as one's birth and death, and that you have a tiny role. Wherever you are, there is chaos happening and it does not have anything to do with you. I do not mean to belittle our existence, I am simply suggesting you stop blaming yourself for past events and constantly worry about future, as the world would run its course with/without us.

Experience slow living. As I have mentioned above, we go through our lives like we're in some sort of 90-min-long Hollywood movies, constantly comparing our looks, accomplishments and events to others'.

I noticed especially after turning 17 that my life got faster and faster, and I could not keep track of many events, emotions and people around me.

Through meditating, we get to live a little slower, a little longer. Many more things start catching our attention and experience senses in different ways (the breath, the hair falling on your shoulder, the wind outside, birds chirping, the chair you sit on...)

The bottom line is, you are meant to live this world in a way you best can. If you had to think about your absolute best version of yourself, it would be so much more sane, calm and satisfied, right?

No one will coerce you into feeling a certain way if you do not, or doing something you're reluctant to.

Remember there is a choice for you to be happy.

And it's all yours.

In whatever form or shape you choose to be happy, go with it.
