Have you ever wanted to leave a piece of you, your story, something that you have spent your life on, dedicated on that you want others to reap something out of?
Many people choose to take pictures over joting down words, but words help you stimulate your mind and calm your soul.
Whether writing is your niché or not, whether you find it to be in vain, pointless or airy-fairy, to be candid with you, I can't stress the importance of trying to put your thoughts into words. It enables you to release the stress you have been holding onto, and get a clear perspective of your day-to-day life and actions.
Verbalizing your thoughts is one thing, embellishing them is another. You do not have to do the latter unless you value its genuine importance.
No writer is perfect. Even many great writers of their times dealt with their own tragic stories. They wrote what they had observed and experienced. They wrote in pseudo names, dealt with great poverty and rejection. They wrote what they struggled in.
This, coming out of a twenty-year-old may sound like a simple cookie-cutter suggestion, however through writing about things you struggle with a great deal, you may find it easier to ease the problem and deal with it differently and see it from many aspects.
Josh Radnor says it in ways I couldn't verbalize over the past couple of hours, so I will quote him instead.
"I write about patience because I am impatient. I write about compassion because I am filled with judgment. I write about meditation because my mind is incredibly active and loud. I write about forgiveness because I am prone to resentment and grievance. I write about risk-taking and busting up routine because I am a slave to habit. I write about creative output and battling resistance because I am a highly distractible, world class procrastinator. I write about giving myself permission to feel grief because I tend to run from negative feelings."
Take good, really good care of your mental health this week, and have a productive week ahead of you.:)
